Tuesday June 9th at Tulsa
The Storm started strong at home with a young, revamped team, but how good can they be? They headed out On The Road to Find Out. Let’s just say it was A Hard Day’s Night.
The opening tip went to Bird who fired it to a streaking, wide-open O’Hea who proceeded to miss an uncontested lay-in. Mamma Mia! Unfortunately, this was a precursor for how this Unbelievable game went. Was it due to Changes in Latitudes? Blinded by the Light? Were they Under Pressure? Suffering from Double Vision? Reports I’ve seen indicate that Tulsa’s defense was responsible for this. I saw a complete Storm Breakdown. I Can’t Tell You Why.
They just couldn’t get anything going. Sue would have a nice run then pass it off under the basket and Loyd would miss the lay-in. They would steal the ball and then throw it away. In the first quarter Tulsa went on a 16-0 run, with the score 7-21 at the end of it.
Between the 2nd and third quarters, the Storm missed 26 of 27 shots taken. Miniature Disasters. Lost the third quarter 8-19. Halftime score of 15-40. The Storm had shot 5 of 34, Tulsa 15 of 34.
The third quarter was a slight uptick with KML scoring her first WNBA point From a Distance. She followed up with two more baskets to score 7 points and the last three baskets of the quarter. Storm wins the quarter 19-18 but still trails by a hefty 24 points 34-58.
The fourth quarter saw the Storm bench getting some good playing time. It resulted in winning the quarter 11-10, but ultimately falling 45-68.
Lang made a FT! Team shot 91.7% from the free throw line
Sue had no fouls/the rest of the team had 25!
Storm shot 23.8% from the floor and 16.7% from 3 pt.
Jewel 0-10, Jenna 0-3, AC 0-3 (This was unusual, That’s What I Think)
So, this should add some Scar Tissue, because Big Girls Don’t Cry. We knew it was going to be a rebuilding year and we’ll be ok in The Long Run. So, Don’t Stop Believin’. On to the Next One: Minnesota, the pre-season favorite to win it all, on Friday. All I Really Want is for them to make their shots and things will be fine.
